Adult Upgrading

We currently offer three programs for adults who want to improve their educational skills through the Nova Scotia School of Adult Learning. Adult learners should be 19 years or older and out of school for at least a year. However, exceptions can be made on an individual basis.

Adult Learning and Training

  • GED Preparation: preparation to achieve a high school equivalency by passing General Educational Development (GED) tests in the areas of math, English writing and grammar, English reading, social studies and science
  • Level Up: Preparation to gain high school diploma through Adult Learning Program I and II courses for learners with grade 8 completion or under
  • Adult Learning Program (ALP): Course completion for high school diploma through ALP II and IV for learners with grade 9 completion or higher through Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) to be conducted on site at the Peoples Place Library
  • Classroom instruction Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and Wednesdays from 6-8pm in room 119 of the People’s Place Library
