Preparing for the GEDÂ
PLEASE NOTE:
The Canadian GED Exam Series is ending on May 3, 2024.
This means any progress you make toward your GED (High School Equivalency) certification must be completed by this date.
Note: The GED test will be replaced by a new Canadian Equivalency test in 2024

The General Educational Development (GED) is an internationally recognized high school equivalency testing program. It’s a series of five tests for individuals who don’t have a high school diploma. You must: be 19 years of age or older, a permanent resident of Nova Scotia, a Canadian citizen, or refugee and have been out of school for at least one year. To register, go to GED Testing Service You must have an email address in order to create an account.
There are five tests: Math, English Language Arts Reading, English Language Arts Writing, Science, and Social Studies. You can find out more about GED test subjects on the official Canadian GED website.
You’ll find many GED Sample Tests online. More sample questions are provided on the official Canadian GED website.
 The authorized study guide we recommend is the            Steck – Vaughn Complete Canadian GED Preparation.
There are individual Steck-Vaughn preparation guides for reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. This free GED Test Study Guide also outlines skills needed to pass the GED.
Many online GED prep resources are for the American GED test. Canadian online resources that we recommend are:
